I created this BLOG in hopes that my journey with my mother and her Alzheimer’s can help others. I list my daily posts below. I wanted to explain a little about my mother Alzheimer’s. She has helped me all my life with my journey of cerebral palsy. My website that talks about my cerebral palsy and my climbing adventures is at www.timsashwood.com if you want to check it out. She is 90 years old and has had Alzheimer’s for at least 15 years now. I first noticed her memory problems back in the fall of 1997. She was able to keep driving and handling her check book until the winter of 2003/2004. She could still go on 2 mile hikes with me into 2005 and ½ mile walks thru 2008, now she mostly can only walk a few yards before her hip starts to hurt her. I moved back into her home in 2005 to help her stay in her house although I have kept my own place thru March 2011. One of the things I feel that has helped her go 15 years and still going is I’ve had people (mostly me) around her quit a bit. This helped her stay engaged with people. In 2003 she averaged people with her @90hrs/wk out of 168 hrs in a week, in 2004/2005/2006 @110hrs/wk, 2007 @125hrs/wk, 2008 @135hrs/wk. Then starting in January 2009 she has had someone with her 24/7. I started using care givers in 2005 to help and to give mom other women to talk to and get use to. Right now she can still dress and undress herself but is starting to struggle with it and needs to be told what to do most of the time. In December 2009 she started to refuse to wash herself now one of the care givers I use sponge bathes her 3 times a week. Right now mentally she is like a 3 or 4 year old girl with just a few seconds of memory. She has started to get confused with the getting undressed and dressed part but can still do it herself. She has also sometimes thought the person she sees in the bathroom mirror is someone else this started in 2010. I started using a diaper pad on mom’s bed in July 2011. In the fall of 2011 we increased the dosage on mom’s Galantamine. In March of 2012 I stopped giving her the supplements it has started to get harder to get her to take the pills. So I started just giving her a one a day vitamin instead. Then in May 2012 we have started to crush mom’s pills and put them in applesauce about 3 or 4 days a week. She loves applesauce. She can still walk on her own with no help. Here is a list of the drugs she takes for her Alzheimer’s.
•Razadyne started in 2000 then in 2011 changed to generic Galantamine
•Namenda started March 2005

Mom did have a small bladder accident last night with Adrienne around 3am.  Adrienne said mom was easy going last night which she mostly is with Adrienne.  Adrienne said mom went to bed around midnight the past couple of nights.  Mom was eating breakfast when I left this morning.  I went in a little later this morning to celebrate Andrea’s birthday with mom this morning.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was benevolent.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home at 5:30pm and we ate dinner when she got out.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing like normal.  I can still get mom laughing by just acting silly.  We watched the NBC show “Americas Got Talent” mostly.         

Tuesday July 30^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  It was raining when I left but it did stop long enough for me to walk into work thank you god.  Andrea left note her word of the day for mom was bonny.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home at 5:30pm and we ate when she got out so the last time mom ate was 7pm.  We watched TV and laughed this evening.  We watched the NBC show “Americas Got Talent” and Joel Osteen on Daystar.   

Monday July 29^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  This was the start of my 4^th week of work.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was bleary eyed.  Mom was sitting at the dining table when I got home so we ate dinner when I got home so the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing.  We watched the NBC shows “American Ninja Warrior”, “Get out Alive” mostly.    

Sunday July 28^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was in the bathroom when I left for church and Patti was here.  The worship part was very good today and then met with friends after the service like normal for brunch.  It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 70’s another day we could leave the houses windows open with a nice breeze blowing through made it very nice inside the house and outside great temps.  Mom was eating lunch when I got home and Patti said mom was sweet and quiet.  After lunch and a bathroom break we took our Sunday drive.  We drove along the river road partway to Grafton IL then we went to both Sioux Passage and Sunset parks before getting home.  Mom was awake on the drive and looking around but she was quiet.  Then after a bathroom break we ate dinner when we got home.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom not napping much. 

Saturday July 27^th 2013

Mom did have a bladder accident this morning around 10:30am.  She went to the bathroom before breakfast when we got up at 8:30am then after she finished most of her breakfast she went back in to the bathroom came out 20 minutes later 5 minutes after she got out the second time she had a bowel accident sitting at the dining room table.  I had to change her and put into a house coat.  It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 70’s. It was nice leaving the house open all day with the temp so nice.  After breakfast and bathroom trips we went for our Saturday drive.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  We saw about the same number of people on the hike/bike trail as normal.  There was less boats on the river than normal.  We both were quieter than normal on the drive with mom napping some but then I too was tired so quieter than my normal.  We ran into a lot of traffic in West Alton on the way back it was like a parking lot I thank god mom didn’t have another bladder/bowel accident.  Mom went to the bathroom when we got home then we had lunch.  Then we both napped until dinner time so the last time mom ate was close to 7pm.  We spent the evening watching comedy shows and programs on the Daystar channel.     

Friday July 26^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was biddable.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home and we ate dinner when she got out.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm and went to bed at 1:30am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with both of use napping some.    

Thursday July 25^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  Since Adrienne didn’t come over last night Andrea got here at 6am.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was buoyant.  Mom was watching TV when I got home at 5:30pm and we ate dinner when I got home so the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We watched TV and laughed this evening.  We mostly watched comedy shows.  We did talk to my brother Larry over SKYPE for about 30 minutes.  Adrienne got here tonight by 10pm.     

Wednesday July 24^th 2013

Mom did have a bladder accident this afternoon. Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  I left before Andrea got here Adrienne was still here.  Andrea did leave note that her word of the day for mom was betwixt and between.  Patti said mom was fine and mom was sitting at dining room table and we ate when I got home at 5:30pm and the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom awake most of the evening.  We watched the NBC show “Americas Got Talent” mostly.  Adrienne called in sick tonight so it will be me getting mom up tonight.     

Tuesday July 23^rd 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  I left before Andrea got here Adrienne was still here.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was blithe. Patti said mom was pleasant, sleepy and quiet.  I put mom in the bathroom when I got home at 5:30pm and we ate after that.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping a little but not much.  Adrienne got here by 10pm and said mom went to bed last night at 11:30pm and said mom was fine no problems. 

Monday July 22^nd 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  It was a cloudy rainy day.  Andrea left note that her word of the day was bewildered and Patti said mom was fine.  Mom was watching TV when I got home so we ate dinner then.  The last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.  Adrienne got here by 10pm and changed mom and put her to bed.  Adrienne put mom to bed last night at 12:45am.   

Sunday July 21^st 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was still sleeping when Patti got here and I left for church.  It was a cloudy day with temps in the 80’s.  I had lunch after the service with friend Dan like normal then came home.  Mom was sitting down to eat her lunch when I got home.  Patti said mom was fine and a little quiet. After mom ate lunch and went to the bathroom we took a drive.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  We saw less boats on the river and today I notice the river was down enough that I saw some sandbars.  There were also less people on the hike/bike trail.  Mom was awake most of the drive and looking around but was quitter than normal on the drive.  It started to rain when we almost got home so we did not add Sioux Passage Park to the drive.  Then after a bathroom trip we ate dinner when we got back.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing like normal.  We watched the NBC show “Americas Got Talent” and some cop shows.  Adrienne got here a little before 11pm and will put mom to bed tonight and change mom into mom’s nightgown.      

Saturday July 20^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  We got up for the day at 9am went to the bathroom then had breakfast.  Then we had another bathroom trip before taking a drive.  It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 90’s.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  We saw several people on the hike/bike trail and tons of motorcycles.  We saw several boats on the river mostly near Alton and Grafton.  We even saw some sailboats I do miss sailing some.  Overall mom talked about her normal amount but she did sleep some as well.  After the drive mom went to the bathroom then we had lunch.  After lunch the bathroom and naps for both of us until dinner time.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm and went to bed at 1:30am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.  A note it is getting harder for mom to get into the car but she can still manage.      

Friday July 19^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work this morning.   This was the end of my second week.  Adrienne and Andrea were changing shifts when I left this morning.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was benign.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home by 5:30pm.  We ate when she got out of the bathroom so the last time she ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing.  We both slept for a while after dinner then mom was awake most of the evening.  We mostly watched comedy shows.  Mom was easy to change tonight into her house coat.  Mom and I went to bed around 2am.

Thursday July 18^th 2013

Mom did have a bladder accident this afternoon just before I got home.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  I left while Adrienne was still here and before Andrea got here.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was beautiful.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home by 5:30pm.  It is almost the end of my second full week and still feeling pretty good.  We ate dinner when mom got out of the bathroom so the last time she ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing like normal with mom napping a lot.  With her napping though it does give me some time to write this and read the bible.  Adrienne said mom went to bed last night at 12:30am. 

Wednesday July 17^th 2013

Mom did have a bladder accident this afternoon just before I got home.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work.  Andrea was here when I left and left a note that her word of the day for mom was bothered.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home at 5:30pm and Patti had put mom into her nightgown after mom’s bladder accident.  We ate when mom got out of the bathroom so the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing.  We mostly watched the NBC show “Americas Got Talent” then comedy shows.  Adrienne got here by 10pm and I went in to do my prayers shortly after 10pm.  Adrienne said mom went to the bathroom shortly after midnight Tuesday night. 

Tuesday July 16^th 2013

Mom did have a bladder accident this afternoon just before I got home.  Mom was sleeping when I left early today for work.  I even left 30 minutes before Andrea got here and it was Adrienne here.  Andrea left a note saying her word of the day was beautiful but Patti had trouble getting mom to the bathroom.  We ate dinner shortly after I got home so the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.  We mostly watched the baseball All Star game and Joel Osteen on the Daystar channel.  Adrienne said she put mom to bed at 15 minutes past midnight Monday night. 

Monday July 15^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for work this morning.  This was my first day after my first week.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was blah and Patti said hers was quiet but nice.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home by 5:30pm.  We ate dinner when mom got out and the last time she ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing.  We watched the NBC show “American Ninja” and “Get out Alive” mostly.  Adrienne said mom went to bed last night around 1am.

Sunday July 14^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for church this morning.  Patti got mom up, fed her breakfast and pills in applesauce.  It was a great worship part of the service today.  I met up with friends for bunch like normal.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home and when she got out I fed her lunch.  Then we waited for another bathroom break before going for a drive.  It was a sunny day with temps in the 80’s.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  We did not see very many boats until we got closer to Grafton.  We did see a few people out on the hike/bike trail but not as many as yesterday.  We both were tired and didn’t do a lot of talking but mom was alert and enjoying the drive.  We drove in the car it is getting harder for her to get up into my van.  We had dinner when we got home and another bathroom trip.  So the last time mom ate was 7pm and we spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing.    

Saturday July 13^th 2013

Mom did have 2 bladder accidents this morning.  We got up for the day at 10:30am and after mom went to the bathroom we ate brunch and mom took her pills.  After brunch and a bathroom trip we took a drive.  It was a sunny day with temps in the mid 80’s.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  We saw several boats even several sailboats.  We did not see a lot of people on the hike/bike trail.  We talked about our normal amount even though mom did nap a little.  Mom is more talkative on the river road part of the drive.  Mom went to the bathroom when we got back then shortly after she got out we had dinner so the last time mom ate was 6pm.  We spent the evening mostly watching the St Louis Cardinals baseball game on TV.  Mom did nap some this evening as normal.  We also watched some comedy shows and programs on the Daystar channel.  Mom went to bed tonight after 1:30am.

Friday July 12^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mon was sleeping when I left this morning.  Andrea had got here about 5 minutes before I left and Adrienne was getting ready to leave.  This was my last day of my first week back at work.  Adrienne said mom was good overnight and Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was belchy.  When I got home Patti said mom was quiet this afternoon.  I was home by 5pm tonight and mom was in the bathroom when I got home.  I stopped by the grocery store before getting home.  The last time mom ate was 6pm and after a bathroom stop we took a drive this evening.  It was a sunny evening and we drove to both Sioux Passage and Sunset Parks.  We spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing.  Mom did walk outside tonight after the bathroom and was standing by the car the first time she has done that.  Mom went to bed at 11pm tonight. 

Thursday July 11^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mon was sleeping when I left this morning.  Andrea had got here about 5 minutes before I left and Adrienne was getting ready to leave.  This was my fourth day of my first week back at work.  Andrea left note that her word of the day for mom was breezy.  Mom was sitting at the dining room table when I got home by 5:30pm so the last time mom ate was 6pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing when I acted silly.  Mom was awake most of the evening.   Adrienne said mom went to bed at midnight last night and she got here tonight a little before 10pm.  I went to bed a little after 10pm. 

Wednesday July 10^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   I left this morning before Andrea got here Adrienne was still here with mom in the bathroom.  I left before 7am for my third day of work.  It was raining when I left but stopped for a little while when I got to work.  Andrea left a note that her word of the day for mom was beatific.  Patti said mom was quiet.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home by 5:30pm.  We ate dinner when mom got out of the bathroom so the last time she ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom awake most of the time.  We watched the show “Americas Got Talent”, programing on the Daystar channel and comedy shows.  Adrienne got here a little before 10pm and told me mom went to bed last night a little after midnight.  I went to bed a little after 10pm mom was still up tonight and Adrienne will change mom and put her to bed.      

Tuesday July 9^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   This was my second day of work and it went well.  Mom was still sleeping in bed when I left for work a little after 7am.  Adrienne left just before me and Andrea was here when I left.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was bewitching and Patti said hers was quiet.  Patti was here when I got home at 5:30pm.  Mom was coming out of the bathroom and getting ready to sit down for dinner when I got home.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.  We watched the show “So You Think You Can Dance” mom was attentive and liking the dancing.  We also watched Joel Osteen on the Daystar channel.  I went to bed shortly after 10pm after Adrienne got here. 

Monday July 8^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   This was my first day back in the work world back in the IT field for a few months at least.  Mom was in bed when I left for work this morning.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was bubbly and Patti said mom was fine mostly but did fuss some on getting up to go to the bathroom.  Mom ate dinner with Patti tonight since I went in a little later this morning so left later and didn’t get home until about 6:30pm. We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.  Adrienne got here around 10pm then I went to bed shortly after she got here.  Adrienne said mom went to bed at midnight on Sunday night.    

Sunday July 7^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   Mom was in the bathroom when I left for church this morning.  Patti got mom up fed and mom was just starting lunch when I got home from church.  The music was great as normal and I met up with friends afterward for brunch.  It was a party sunny warm day.  After mom ate lunch and went to the bathroom we took a drive.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL then Sioux Passage Park on the way back.  We saw about the same number of boats but less people on the hike/bike trail compared to yesterday.  We also saw more motorcycles today than yesterday.  We mostly talked about the boats and houses and talked about our normal amount.  After a bathroom stop when we got back we ate dinner so the last time mom ate was 5:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.  We watched the NBC show “Americas Got Talent” and ABC show “Americas Funniest Videos” mostly.   I went to bed at 11pm when Adrienne got here so I could rest for my first day back at work in a while.    

Saturday July 6^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   We got up for the day around 10:30am with mom going to the bathroom before breakfast.  After breakfast and another bathroom trip we took a drive.  Mom is now getting weaker in her muscles.  It was tougher than ever before for mom to get into the van but she still can.  It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 90’s.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL then to Sioux Passage Park on the way back.  We saw several people out on the hike/bike trail.  There were a lot of boats on the river as well.  We even saw a few sailboats.  Mom talked about her normal amount even though she slept a little on our drive.  We mostly talked about the boats, motorcycles, people walking and flowers.  Mom now can mostly only see the boats when they are moving unless they are very close.  We had a snack when we got back then mom napped as we watched TV until dinner.  The last time mom ate was 6:30pm and went to bed at 1am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping about half the time.   

Friday July 5^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   Mom was dressed and eating breakfast when I left to do some reading before meeting up with a friend and go out to lunch.  After lunch I did some reading picked up my van then ran some errands before getting home by 5pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was barmy Patti said hers was calm.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home and we ate dinner when she got out.  So the last time mom ate was 6pm and went to bed at 11pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.  Like normal mom was easy to change and I put her in the house coat so hopefully I will not need to change her again until Sunday night.  

Thursday July 4^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   Mom was dressed and eating breakfast when I left to do some playing and run some errands.  Mom was napping in the TV room when I got home by 3pm.  It was a sunny day with temps in the 80’s.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was backward and Patti said hers was quiet.  I let mom nap a little then go to the bathroom before we went for a drive.  We drove along the river road partway to Grafton IL.  We saw several people on the hike/bike trail and several boats were out on the river.  Mom was fairly quiet on the drive but was alert and watching the boats and the scenery.  She did talk whenever I said something to her and she was enjoying the drive.  Mom then went to bathroom when we got back before dinner so we ate a late dinner mom didn’t finish until 7pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and mom saw the last of the Florissant fireworks.  Adrienne got here early and watched the fireworks.  Adrienne put mom to bed last night at 11:45pm.  I stayed up later tonight and didn’t go do my prayers and then go to bed until 11pm.   

Wednesday July 3^rd 2013

Mom did have a small bladder accident early this morning just before Andrea got here.  Mom was eating breakfast when I left this morning to take my van to the shop.  I ate breakfast and read while I waited to see what the van might need.  I had to leave it at the shop and I ran some errands before getting home by 5pm.  I bought mom a new toilet seat that is cushiony.  It was a sunny day with temps in the 70’s.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was banal and Patti said hers was peaceful.  We ate dinner when mom got out of the bathroom.  So the last time mom ate was 6pm.  We spent the evening watching mostly specials on PBS, comedy shows and laughing with mom napping some.  Mom was in great spirits tonight and happy.  Adrienne got here at 10pm and I went to do my praying and then bed.  So I’m not sure what time mom went to bed tonight but found out she went to bed last night at 11:30pm.      

Tuesday July 2^nd 2013

Mom did have a small bladder accident early this morning just before Andrea got here.  Mom was eating breakfast when I left this morning to get a massage.  It was a rainy day with temps in the upper 60’s most of the day.  I ate lunch at a new place today and they had great sandwiches.  I then did some playing before getting home by 2pm.  The pastor stopped by today at 2pm for about a 40 minute visit.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was bang-up.  It was raining all day so I did not take mom for a drive.  Mom spent most of the afternoon napping before dinner.  The last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We spent the evening mostly watching NBC Americas Got Talent and Joel Osteen with mom napping a lot.  Adrienne got here by 10pm so not sure what time mom went to bed.  Mom was easy to change into her nightgown.  I went into my room to do my prayers and go to bed around 10:30pm.  

Monday July 1^st 2013

Mom did have a bladder accident this afternoon as Patti was taking her to the bathroom.  Mom was just starting breakfast when I left this morning.  I got up early to meet up for a meeting.  I then ran some errands and a little playing before getting back at 4:30pm.  It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 80’s.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was brave and Patti said hers was quiet.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home and we had dinner when she got out.  So the last time mom ate was 5:30pm.  We did not take any drives today.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing.  We watched America Ninja on the NBC channel and some comedy shows as well.  I went to get ready for bed a little after 10pm so I can start training my body to go to bed early and get up early.  Adrienne got here a little before 10pm so I left her with mom.  So she will start putting mom to bed I put mom into her nightgown tonight.  Mom was easy to change.

In 2003 she averaged people with her @90hrs/wk out of 168 hrs in a week, in 2004/2005/2006 @110hrs/wk, 2007 @125hrs/wk, 2008 @135hrs/wk. Then starting in January 2009 she has had someone with her 24/7. I started using care givers in 2005 to help and to give mom other women to talk to and get use to. Right now she can still dress and undress herself but is starting to struggle with it and needs to be told what to do most of the time. In December 2009 she started to refuse to wash herself now one of the care givers I use sponge bathes her 3 times a week. Right now mentally she is like a 3 or 4 year old girl with just a few seconds of memory. She has started to get confused with the getting undressed and dressed part but can still do it herself. She has also sometimes thought the person she sees in the bathroom mirror is someone else this started in 2010. I started using a diaper pad on mom’s bed in July 2011. In the fall of 2011 we increased the dosage on mom’s Galantamine. In March of 2012 I stopped giving her the supplements it has started to get harder to get her to take the pills. So I started just giving her a one a day vitamin instead. Then in May 2012 we have started to crush mom’s pills and put them in applesauce about 3 or 4 days a week. She loves applesauce. She can still walk on her own with no help. Here is a list of the drugs she takes for her Alzheimer’s.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   Mom was in the bathroom when I went to church.  It was one of the better services today from start to finish.  I had brunch at church with friends like normal.  It was a cloudy rainy afternoon with temps around 80.  Patti fed mom breakfast and was sitting mom down for lunch when I got home.  After mom finished lunch we talked to my brother Paul over SKYPE for a few minutes then mom went to bathroom before our drive.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  We saw several bats out on the river and people on the hike/bike trail.  At times we talked a lot and other times mom was napping.  Mom then went to the bathroom when we got back and then ate dinner.  So the last time mom ate was 5:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing also mom napped a lot.  I changed mom into her nightgown so Andrea could wash mom in the morning it is hard for Andrea to wash mom in the house coat.  This will be the first evening that Adrienne will work.  I have her starting a week before I start my job so she can shadow me some and so I can start training my sleep habits for work.  Adrienne got here at 11pm tonight for her first evening.  Mom went to bed at 2am.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   We got up for the day at 10:30am and after mom went to the bathroom we had brunch.  Then after another bathroom break we took a drive.  It was a partly sunny at that time with temps in the 70’s.  We drove along the river road most of the way to Grafton IL.  We didn’t see very many people on the hike/bike trail.  We did see several boats on the river.  Mom and I both were quieter than normal mom even napped a little.  We had a snack when we got back.  It started to rain this afternoon so we did not do anymore drives.  Mom spent a lot of time in the bathroom then napped some before dinner.  So the last time mom ate was 5:30pm and went to bed at 11:30pm.  We spent the evening watching mostly movies and laughing with mom napping some.  Mom was in her house coat so no need to change her.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   Mom was being washed when I left to pick up my van from the shop.  I then came back and got a little sleep before getting some new tires on the van.  While I was waiting for the car it gave me lots of time to get in some reading.  I then played a little before getting back home by 5pm.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home.  It was a sunny warm day.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was addlepated.  Mom was a bit unfriendly when she came out of the bathroom but it didn’t take me long before I got her laughing.  We ate dinner when she got out so the last time she ate was 6pm and she went to bed at 11pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with both of us falling asleep at times.  Mom was easy to change and I put her in the house coat so hopefully I will not need to change her Saturday.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   I had the bug guy out today to spray the house for the first time in years.  I also met Adrienne today when she shadowed Andrea.  Adrienne is a friend of Andrea and will be doing the graveyard shift so I can sleep when I start work.  I just had enough time away to grab a bite to eat and run some errands before getting back by 2:30pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was accommodating.  Mom was getting out of the bathroom when I got home.  It was a sunny hot day with temps in the 90’s.  We took a drive along the river road partway to Grafton IL.  We did not see any boats except for one barge on the river.  We only saw 2 people out on the hike/bike trail.  We both were fairly quiet on the drive.  After mom went to the bathroom when we got back I prepared dinner.  So the last time mom ate was 5:30pm and she went to bed at 1:30am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping some.      

Wednesday June 26^th 2013

Mom did have a bladder accident just before I got home.  This morning mom slipped out of bed onto the floor.  She could not get herself up from the floor her arms are just too weak anymore.  Moms muscles are now so weak it hurts her when we try and lift her up.  It took awhile to for mom to get to her feet.  I met up with the company I will start working with over lunch to turn in some paperwork.  Then I ran some errands before getting back by 5pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was accident prone and Patti said her word was unbalanced.  We had dinner when I got home so the last time mom ate was 5:30pm and she went to bed at 2am.  After dinner and a bathroom trip we took a drive to Sioux Passage Park.  We then watched TV and laughed with mom napping some.  Patti had put mom in a house coat so no need to change her.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   It was a sunny hot day with temps in the 90’s.  I met up with a friend for lunch then ran some errands before getting back by 2:30pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was accessible.  Mom had just got out of the bathroom before I got home so we took a drive right away.  We drove along the river road partway to Grafton IL.  We did see just one boat and it was a sailboat.  Also saw no one on the hike/bike trail.  We talked about our normal amount on the drive.  We ate dinner shortly after we got back so the last time mom ate was 5:30pm and went to bed at 2am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing like normal except mom didn’t do much napping.  We first watched a movie then Joel Osteen on Daystar then comedy shows.  Mom was easy to change into her nightgown.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, washed, dressed and had lunch when I ate breakfast.  I spent my day away playing running some errands and reading until I got back by 5pm.  It was a sunny hot day with temps in the 90’s.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home and we had dinner when she got out.   Andrea said her word of the day for mom was adorable.  So the last time mom ate was 5:30pm and went to bed at 1:45am.  We took a drive after dinner and a bathroom break.  We drove to Sioux Passage Park and talked about the flowers and houses mostly.  Mom talked about her normal amount on the drive.  We then spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom napping a lot.  We watched comedy shows and some programs on Daystar.  Mom was easy to change into her nightgown.      

Sunday June 23^rd 2013

Patti wasn’t able to come over today so I didn’t go to church this morning.  Mom did have a bowel accident sitting at the breakfast table as she was finishing her hot chocolate.  She had just gone to the bathroom about an hour earlier so I was surprised she had to go so soon.   After cleaning her up and making sure she got it all out I put on a clean house coat and we went for a drive.  We got up for the day at 10:30am and put mom into the bathroom before breakfast.  The first part of the day was partly sunny with highs in the 90’s.  On our drive we drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  We saw several boats and a lot more people out on the hike/bike trail.  There were also a lot more motorcycles and cars along the river road.  Mom was happy and talkative on the drive mostly along the river road even though mom napped some on the drive.  We had lunch when we got back then it started to rain late afternoon through early evening.  We talked after lunch and bathroom breaks before dinner.  So the last time mom ate was 6:30pm and went to bed at 1:30am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing when I acted silly.  We watched movies and programming on the Day star channel.  Mom did nap some this evening but was awake and intent on watching TV most of the evening.  Mom has spent most of the day smiling.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  We slept in today and didn’t get up for the day until 11am.  It was a cloudy rainy day with highs in the 90’s.  We had breakfast when mom got out of the bathroom.  Then after a bathroom trip we took a drive.  We drove along the river road partway to Grafton IL then Sioux Passage Park on the way back.  We did see a few boats on the river and a few people on the hike/bike trail.  We talked more when we were on the river road.  We then had a snack when we got back then rest before dinner.  The last time mom ate was 5:30pm and went to bed at 11:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom actively watching the TV.  We watched the St Louis Cardinals baseball game then some comedy shows.  I had put mom in her house coat so no need to change her tonight.

Mom did nap some this evening and was easy to change.

Mom had a bladder accident just before I got home.  Patti said she got mom in the bathroom and just before she was able to get moms pants down she had the bladder accident so I had Patti put mom into her nightgown.  Mom was up, washed, dressed and had breakfast when I left.  I went on my job interview this morning and was offered the job.  It’s a short term contract so now I’m busy getting things ready so I can start work.  Then I ran some errands before getting back by 5pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was abiding and Patti said mom was unbalanced when she walked.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home and when she got out we had dinner so the last time mom ate was 6pm and went to bed at 1am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with mom up most of the evening.  We watched some comedy movies and programs on Daystar channel.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, dressed and had lunch when I left.   I spent most of my time preparing for a job interview tomorrow.  Mom was napping in the TV room when I got home at 3pm.  It was a party sunny day with temps in the 90’s.  Mom and I went for a drive to Sioux Passage Park around 4:30pm.  Mom was her normal talkativeness on our drive.  We had dinner when we got back so the last time mom ate was 6pm and went to bed at 1:30am.  We spent the evening like normal watching TV and laughing.  We watched the NBC shows “Americas Got Talent” the “Voice” and Joel Osteen ending the evening with comedy shows.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, washed, dressed and had lunch when I ate breakfast.  I spent my day away playing and reading until I got back by 5pm.  It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 80’s.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was amenable and Patti said hers was loveable.  We had dinner when I got home then a bathroom trip before an evening drive.  We drove to Sioux Passage Park and mom was fairly alert.  We mostly talked about the cars in the parking lots and the flowers that we saw.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 12:30am.  We mostly watched the NBC show the Voice and some programs on the Daystar channel.  Mom last ate at 5:30pm and was fairly easy on changing into the nightgown. 

Sunday June 16^th 2013

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom like normal was still sleeping when I left for church.  Like normal it was a good service and I had brunch with some friends before heading back home.  I do enjoy the time spent just talking to friends at brunch and not worrying about mom.  Patti had fed mom breakfast by the time I got home but not lunch because she was waiting for mom to finish with her bathroom trip.  Patti said her word of the morning for mom was sluggish.  Mom was still in her nightgown so while she was in the bathroom I put on her house coat then mom had lunch.  It was a cloudy rainy day with temps in the 80’s.  We took a drive today just to Sioux Passage and Sunset Parks after lunch and a bathroom break.  Mom a lot of times takes an hour to eat and finish her drink so we don’t have to wait too long after mom finishes eating before she needs to go back to the bathroom.  After our drive mom napped a little then we had dinner.  So the last time mom ate was 6pm and went to bed at 1am.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing.  Mom was awake and alert most of the evening.  She also likes to look at me a lot and I normally say or do something silly and make mom laugh.  Mom was in great spirits tonight being sweet and smiley.

Mom did have a small bladder accident after dinner and our last drive so I put mom into her nightgown early.  We got up for the day around 9am and after mom went to the bathroom we had breakfast.  Andrea and I have started giving mom hot chocolate for breakfast as her drink over the past winter and still do it because she normally drinks it right up.  It was an off and on rainy day with temps in the 90’s.  We did take our first drive after breakfast and a bathroom trip.  It was in between the rains.  We drove along the river road to Grafton IL.  It was great to see that the river road was open again and not flooded.  We only saw barges on the river and just a handful of people on the hike/bike trail.  The water was close to the road in spots.  Mom and I talked about our normal amount mostly when we were on the river road.  There is more things going on along the river road so more things that still will catch moms eye sometimes but not as much as a year or more ago.  We had lunch when we got back after a bathroom break then we both napped a little before dinner.  The last time mom ate was 5:30pm and she went to bed at 1am.  We did take a second drive after dinner to Sioux Passage and Sunset Parks and we talked about our normal amount.  We talked mostly on the cars in the parking lots and flowers that we saw.  We then spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, washed, dressed and had lunch when I ate breakfast.   I just did a little playing before getting back by 2pm when the pastor came by.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was amiable.  I had Patti over so after the pastor left I went to the movie house to meet up with a friend and watched the new Star Trek movie which I enjoyed.  We then went out to dinner before I headed back home getting home by 8:30pm.  Patti had put mom into her nightgown so I would not need to change her.  Mom and Patti were watching TV when I got home.  Mom and I spent the rest of the evening watching some comedy shows and programs on the Daystar channel.  Mom stayed up and awake trying to talk some until she went to bed at 1:30am.

Mom had 2 bladder accidents today.  The first one was overnight when she was in the bathroom somehow it happened after I put her in there.  She was dry going into the bathroom but was wet when she came out.  The second accident came just before dinner.  It was a partly sunny day with hot temps.  Mom was eating lunch when I left and ran some errands before getting back by 2:30pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was content.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home then we took a drive.  We drove to Sioux Passage Park.  There is still so much flooding that our favorite drives are too flooded.  We talked about our normal amount mostly on the number of cars in the parking lots.  We had dinner after I cleaned her up from her second bladder accident so the last time mom ate was 5:30pm.  We spent the evening watching the NBC shows the Voice and Americas Got Talent.  Then we watched Joel Osteen and other programs on the Daystar channel until mom went to bed at 1am.  I put mom into her nightgown after her second bladder accident so there was no need to change her at bedtime.  We also laughed whenever I acted silly that still gets mom to laugh.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, washed, dressed and had lunch when I ate breakfast.  I just did some playing and reading until I got back by 5pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was biddable.  We ate dinner when I got home so the last time mom ate was 6pm and went to bed at 12:30am.  We spent the evening mostly watching the NBC shows like the Voice then some comedy shows.  Mom was easy changing into her nightgown.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was sleeping when I left for church.  I met up with some friends like normal after the service and had brunch.  It was a good service and enjoyable visiting with friends.  It was a rainy day with temps in the 70’s.  Mom started eating lunch when Patti left then we napped some before taking a short drive in between rain drops.  We drove to both Sioux Passage and Sunset Parks.  Mom was her normal talkativeness and alert on our drive.  We then napped a little before dinner so the last time mom ate was 5:30pm.  Mom is not having all the bowel movements today so whatever she had must have worked its way through her system.  We spent the evening mostly watching the NBC show “Americas Got Talent”.   Mom went to bed at 12:30am and was easy to change into her nightgown so Andrea could wash her in the morning.     

Saturday June 8^th 2013

Mom did have a small bladder accident this morning around 8:15am.  I went in to get mom up and found her sitting on the edge of the bed with her shoes on I knew that wasn’t a good sign.  I had to even change the sheets after I got mom in the bathroom.  Mom had at least 5 bowel movements today a lot more than normal so my guess is she had something working thru her system.  We stayed up when mom got out of the bathroom and had breakfast.  After another bathroom break after breakfast mom and I both napped a little before going on a drive.  It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 80’s.  Since there is so much flooding around here we could not go along the river road and the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area was totally flooded.  So today we just drove to Sioux Passage Park then Sunset Park before heading back home.  I fixed lunch when we got back and another bathroom break then napped a little before a second drive.  On the second drive we drove to Sioux Passage Park and on both drives mom was fairly quiet but mostly enjoying the drives.  We had dinner around 6:30pm then watched TV this evening.  Mom did nap a lot this evening overall I would say mom has been sleepy and quiet.  We mostly watched the St Louis Cardinals baseball game then some comedy and science specials. Mom went to bed at 1:30am and was already in her house coat so no need to change her.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, washed, dressed and had lunch when I ate breakfast.  I just did some playing today until I got back by 5pm and went to bed at 12:30am.  Mom was napping in the TV room when I got home.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was engaged more so than she has been in weeks.  I forget what Patti said but it was pretty much the same.  I had mom go to the bathroom before dinner so the last time mom ate was 6:30pm.  We watched TV mostly the Daystar channel then some movies and comedy shows.  Mom napped a little in the first part of the evening but then so did I.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, dressed and had lunch when I ate breakfast.  I help Andrea get mom up and to the bathroom this morning mom was very weak.  After the bathroom Andrea gave mom some drink and that perked mom up.  So we gave mom lots to drink today and she has gone to the bathroom several more times but that’s fine mom needed to get her system hydrated.  Mom I thick wasn’t feeling good last night because she wasn’t too interested in eating or drinking.  This was different today mom has been very happy to eat and drink.  It was a party sunny day with temps in the 80’s.  I just did a little playing and reading before getting back by 3pm.  Mom was in the bathroom when I got home.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was weak and Patti said hers was nice.  Since mom seemed tired and the fact that I think she was sick last night I did not take her for a drive today.  Mom mostly napped after I got home until dinner.  The last time mom ate was 5:30pm and went to bed at 12:30am.  We spent the evening watching mostly Nova specials and comedy.  Mom napped a lot the first part of the evening then was awake and alert until bedtime.  Andrea put mom into a house coat that she could change and clean mom easier so no need to change her before bed.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.  Mom was up, dressed and had lunch when I ate breakfast.  I just had enough time to run some errands before getting back by 2:30pm.  Andrea said her word of the day for mom was pleasant.  It was a cloudy day with temps in the 70’s.  Mom and I took a drive around 3:30pm and drove to Sioux Passage Park.  Mom was fairly quiet on the drive and not really into it today until close to the end of the drive.  We ate dinner around 5:30pm and mom finished around 6pm.  Mom went to bed at midnight.  We spent the evening like normal watching TV and laughing.  We watched the NBC shows the Voice and America’s got talent.  We watched Joel Osteen then some comedy to finish the night.  Mom was up most of the evening even being more engaged in the shows than her normal. Tonight I changed mom in her bedroom instead of the bathroom and she was fairly easy to get her nightgown on.

Mom did have a small bladder accident this morning if only I got her up 5 minutes sooner.  Mom was sleeping when I left for church.  It was a good worship and service today.  I ate brunch with some friends at church after the service like normal.  Mom was eating lunch when I got home from church so after she finished and had a bathroom break we took a drive.  It was a cloudy day with temps just getting into the high 60’s.  We started to drive the river road but it was shut down in Alton IL because of flooding.  The Mississippi river was very high and covering part of the road in Alton.  So we turned around and went back going through Sioux Passage Park first.  We talked about our normal amount mostly on the cars in parking lots and flowers that we saw.  After a bathroom trip I fixed us dinner so the last time mom ate was 5:30pm and she went to bed at 11:30pm.  We spent the evening watching TV and laughing with both of us napping some.  We did talk to my brother Larry over SKYPE for a few minutes.  Mom did fuss some tonight when I changed her into the nightgown.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today.   We got up for the day around 10:30am.  After mom went to the bathroom we had breakfast.  We napped a little after breakfast then mom went to the bathroom again before we took our drive.  We drove around then stopped by Sioux Passage Park before heading home.  I fixed us a snack when we got back then mom napped some before dinner.  We ate dinner around 5pm then watched TV and laughed until mom went to bed at midnight.  We spent a lot of the evening watching the St Louis Cardinals baseball game.  I had put mom into a house coat last night so no need to change mom today.   Mom went to bed around midnight.
