I created this BLOG in hopes that my journey with my mother and her Alzheimer’s can help others. I list my daily posts below. I wanted to explain a little about my mother Alzheimer’s. She has helped me all my life with my journey of cerebral palsy. She is 88 years old and has had Alzheimer’s for at least 14 years now. I first noticed her memory problems back in the fall of 1997. She was able to keep driving and handling her check book until the winter of 2003/2004. She could still go on 2 mile hikes with me into 2005 and ½ mile walks thru 2008, now she mostly can only walk a few yards before her hip starts to hurt her. I moved back into her home in 2005 to help her stay in her house although I have kept my own place thru March 2011. One of the things I feel that has helped her go 14 years and still going is I’ve had people (mostly me) around her quit a bit. This helped her stay engaged with people. In 2003 she averaged people with her @90hrs/wk out of 168 hrs in a week, in 2004/2005/2006 @110hrs/wk, 2007 @125hrs/wk, 2008 @135hrs/wk. Then starting in January 2009 she has had someone with her 24/7. I started using care givers in 2005 to help and to give mom other women to talk to and get use to. Right now she can still dress and undress herself but is starting to struggle with it and needs to be told what to do most of the time. In December 2009 she started to refuse to wash herself now one of the care givers I use sponge bathes her 3 times a week. Right now mentally she is like a 4 to 6 year old girl with just a few seconds of memory. She has started to get confused with the getting undressed and dressed part but can still do it herself. She has also sometimes thought the person she sees in the bathroom mirror is someone else this started in 2010. I started using a diaper pad on mom’s bed in July 2011. She can still walk on her own with no help. Here is a list of the drugs and supplements she takes for her Alzheimer’s

Saturday March 31st 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. I did get her up last night
every 3 hours or so and had her go to the bathroom. I was only getting her up every 5 hours or
so. I will do the same thing tonight
until I’m sure she is feeling better. I
got mom up for the day at 11am so she could get lots of sleep. Mom took her pills fairly easy today she just
took her time. Mom also got dressed
without instruction on what to do. We
took a drive after breakfast, getting dressed and a couple bathroom stops. We drove along the river road to the Grafton IL
visitor center. It was a partly sunny
day with temps in the 70’s. We saw 1
sailboat and a few other boats on the river.
More motorcycles today than we’ve seen this year. We talked about the houses on top of the
cliffs but mom was not as talkative today.
I fixed lunch when we got back and we talked about the flowers on the
dining table. Mom took a nap after lunch
in her chair as I watched TV. We took a
second drive after her nap and before dinner.
On this drive we drove over to Sioux Passage Park. Mom was fairly quiet on this drive as
well. By the time we got done we our
drives and naps we had a late dinner.
Mom talked a little more during dinner but we didn’t finish until 7pm so
that was the last she ate today. We
spent the night watching TV and laughing along with a little napping until 1am
when mom went to bed. Mom did fuss some
on brushing her teeth and changing.
Overall today mom has been in good spirits, sleepy and quieter than her
normal.
Friday March 30th 2012
Mom did have a bladder accident overnight at 1am and she got
the bed wet. So I had to change the
sheets and diaper pad. This happened
only 3 hours after her last visit to the bathroom but then mom has not been
feeling real well the past couple of days so this maybe playing with her
systems. I ended up getting mom up again
at 4am so she wouldn’t have another accident.
So since I was up so much overnight I slept in and mom was up, washed
and eating lunch when I left. It was a
partly sunny warm day with temps around 80.
I drove over to Columbia Bottom Conservation Area and hiked a couple
miles along the Missouri river. I almost
stepped on a snake that was laying on the trail and curled up as I almost
stepped on it. I jumped out of the way
as it shocked me but the snack never tried to bite me. It was a 2 foot long black rat snake. Mom was up watching TV when I got home at
3:30pm. Andrea said her word of the day
for mom was unwilling. Shannon said mom
was fine with her now remember Andrea is the one who makes mom do things like
take pills, get dressed and washes mom.
I took mom for a drive this afternoon before dinner. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park. Mom did talk about her normal amount on our
drive. Now tonight I did not give mom
any snacks after dinner since she has been having more bladder accidents. So the last time mom had anything to eat was
at 5:30pm. We spent the evening watching
TV and laughing. Mom has seemed more
confused tonight than her normal. Mom
went to bed at 1am and was fairly easy to get her to change.
Thursday March 29th 2012
Mom had 2 bladder accidents today one overnight and one when
Andrea was here. Andrea also said mom
was going to the bathroom a lot this morning we think mom also had a bit of a
cold. Mom’s noise was a little
runny. Andrea said today she had to
crush mom’s pills and put them in some applesauce then mom took them. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was
bewildered. Mom was up, dressed and feed
when I left this morning. Mom was
napping on and off in her chair when I left.
It was a cloudy day with temps getting into the 70’s. I spent the day with errands and grocery
shopping. Mom was up watching TV when I
got home at 3:30pm. Patti said mom was
fine the 2 hours she was here. I took
mom for a drive shortly after I got back home.
We drove over to Sioux Passage Park and it rained on us some on our
drive. Mom did talk a little more than her
normal on the drive. We had dinner when
we got back but I gave mom a snack at 7pm so that was the last time she ate
anything. We spent the rest of the
evening watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 10pm. Mom fussed a little mostly out of confusion
when it came to changing.
Wednesday March 28th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. Mom was up washed, feed and dressed when I
left today. It was a sunny warm day with
temps getting up to 80 again this month.
Mom was napping a little when I got home at 1:30pm to start waiting for
a person to come by and buy my Thunderbird and tow it away. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was
talkative. The guy got here at 4:30pm
and bought the Thunderbird so I had to say goodbye to my car that I have had
for 17 years. Mom and I had dinner later
at 6pm after the guy left so that was the last time mom had anything to
eat. We took a drive after dinner to
Sioux Passage Park. Mom talked about her
normal amount on our drive. She mostly
talked about cars in the parking lot. We
spent the rest of the night watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at
11pm. Mom was fairly easy to get
changed.
Tuesday March 27th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. Mom was up feed and dressed when
I left today. I spent the day on errands
nothing to exciting. It was a sunny warm
day with temps near 80. We have had the
warmest March in history this year. Last
year at this time we had a few inches of snow.
Andrea said her word of the day for mom was sweet tempered. Mom slept most of the time Schatcie was
here. Since Schatcie will start a
fulltime job this was her last day here.
She may fill in from time to time in the future. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to add someone
else or just go with the 3 women I use now.
Mom was napping when I got home at 4:30pm. Since I got home so late we ate dinner first
then went for a drive. So after dinner
we drove to Sioux Passage Park talking about the trees and cars in parking lots
mostly. I gave mom a snack around 7:30pm
and that was the last time she ate anything.
We spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing until mom went
to bed at midnight. Mom was fairly easy
to get changed tonight.
Monday March 26th 2012
Mom did have a bladder accident this morning she even got
some on her bed. Mom was up when Andrea
got here and Andrea was only able to get the bottom half of mom washed
today. Andrea said mom went to the
bathroom several times this morning. Mom
was up feed and dressed when I left today.
I had Charter cable out this morning to fix the cable so I left late mom
was eating lunch when I left. It was
mostly sunny day with temps in the 70’s.
I was able to get in a short walk today.
I went over to the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area and walked along
the Missouri river. I then got in some
grocery shopping before heading back home by 3:30pm. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was
belligerent. I took mom for a drive
shortly after I got back. We drove over
to Sioux Passage Park. We talked about
the trees and cars in the parking lots.
We were both quiet on the second part of the drive. After our drive I fixed dinner then gave mom
a snack around 7pm. Mom talked about the
flowers on the dining table during dinner.
We spent the night watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at
11:30pm. Mom started her wondering
around the house tonight at 8pm for a few minutes before settling back
down. Mom also tried to start up
conversations but was having trouble putting her thoughts together. Mom was fairly easy tonight to get her to
brush and change. Overall with me mom
has been in good spirits today.
Sunday March 25th 2012
Mom
did have a bladder or bowel accident sometime this
morning while I was gone. I had my friend
Patti over while I went to church. I met
up with my friend and we had brunch after the service like we normally
do. Patti was able to get mom changed into her
cloths but mom hadn’t taken her pills by the time I got back at noon.
Today I tried crushing the pills and gave
them to mom in applesauce and mom ate them right down. We talked to my
brother Paul on SKYPE after
mom’s lunch for a few minutes. It was a
partly sunny day with temps getting into the 70’s again. We took a
drive after talking to Paul. Today we drove over to Columbia Bottom
Conservation Area stopping at the visitor center there for a bathroom
break
before heading over to Sioux Passage Park.
We talked about the views and trees mostly. Mom talked about her normal
amount and was in
good spirits. We both napped some after
our drive and a snack. I fixed us dinner
after our naps and we both were fairly quiet during dinner. I gave mom a
snack around 8pm. We did take a second drive after dinner just
around town. Both the cable and the
internet went out tonight around 8:15pm and is still out as I write
this. Mom started to get restless and agitated
around 8:30pm and started wondering around the house for about an hour.
She went to the bathroom at 9:30pm and I then
put her to bed. It was a bit of a
struggle getting her to change and go to bed.
Saturday March 24th 2012
Mom did have a bladder accident overnight. She made it to the bathroom before having it so
she just got her panties wet not the bed or anything else. I got up for the day at 10:30am and mom was
already up and sitting in the living room.
I fixed our breakfast and mom took her pills with no problems thank
god. Mom also got dressed after breakfast
fairly easy without me saying much. It
was a partly sunny day with temps getting into the 70’s. Mom and I took a drive along the river road
to the Grafton visitor center. Mom
talked a fair amount on our drive even pointing out things that caught her
eye. Mom seemed more alert than her
normal on our drive and all day for that matter. We talked about the river, trees color,
houses on top of the cliffs mostly. We
did see 2 sailboats out on the river and 1 badge but those were the only boats
we saw. We did see more motorcycles I
guess because of the warmer weather. Mom
went to the bathroom at the visitor center without too much trouble. I fixed lunch when we got back and mom talked
about the flowers on the dining table. I
don’t know where Larry got the flowers but mom likes them and they are still
doing great over a week later. We both
napped in our chairs a little after lunch.
I took mom for a second drive before dinner. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park. Mom talked about her normal amount on this
drive. I will miss these drives when she
is gone. We ate dinner after our drive
and I gave mom a snack at 7pm. We
watched TV and laughed tonight until mom went to bed at 10pm. Mom was fairly easy to get changed and I
didn’t need to explain much.
Friday March 23rd 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. Mom was up washed, feed and
dressed when I left today. I met up with
a friend for lunch before my chiropractor appointment. Then I stopped by the grocery store before
heading home at 3:30pm. It was a cloudy
rainy day today with cooler temps.
Andrea said her word of the day for mom was feisty. Shannon said mom was nice the 2 hours she was
here. I took mom for a drive shortly
after I got home. We drove over to Sioux
Passage Park. Mom did talk a lot for her
at least on our drive even pointing out the colorful trees and bigger
houses. She was chatty which was nice to
hear. I fixed dinner when we got back
but gave mom a snack at 7pm so that was the last time she ate anything. Mom did talk about the flowers on the dining
table during dinner. We spent the
evening watching TV laughing and listening to it rain outside until mom went to
bed at 12:30am. Mom tried to start some
conversations tonight and sometimes was able to say what she was thinking. So sometimes she was able to put her thoughts
together for a short time. Mom was
fairly easy to get changed tonight.
Overall mom was in a good mood and more chatty than her normal.
Thursday March 22nd 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. Mom was up feed and dressed when
I left today. It was a rainy day and
much cooler the temps were in the 60’s this afternoon. I met up with a lawyer to talk about him
representing me in my car accident last winter.
Then I just took a drive before heading back home at 3:30pm. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was
helpful and Patti said mom was quiet but nice the 2 hours she was here. I took mom for a drive shortly after I got
home. We drove over to Sioux Passage
Park. We talked about the trees and
houses mostly. By the time of our drive
the sun was peeking out from the clouds some.
At the end of dinner mom spilled her soda on herself so I had her change
into her nightgown. Mom did fuss on
taking off her clothes even though they were wet. I gave mom a snack around 7:30pm so that was
the last time she ate anything. We spent
the evening watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 10pm.
Wednesday March 21st 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. Mom was up washed, feed and
dressed when I left today. I made some
calls on possible jobs before leaving.
Today I just had enough time to take a short drive. It was a partly sunny day with temps getting
into the 80’s. Andrea said her word of
the day for mom was pleasant. Mom was up
watching TV when I got back home at 1:30pm.
I made some phone calls and checked my email before taking mom for a
drive. Today we drove over to Columbia
Bottom Conservation Area stopping at the visitor center there for bathroom
break before heading over to Sioux Passage Park. Mom talked more on the first part of the
drive even pointing out the colorful trees.
The last part she talked about her normal amount. During dinner we talked about the flowers
then I gave mom a snack around 8pm and that was the last time she ate
anything. We spent the night watching TV
and laughing until mom went to bed at 12:30am.
Mom was in good spirits today and somewhat talkative even trying to
start conversations.
Tuesday March 20th 2012
Mom did have a bladder accident overnight. I over slept so mom got up on her own after
about 8 hours and had the accident in the bathroom. So she was able to get out of bed and to the
bathroom before she had the bladder accident, it was my fault since I
overslept. Mom did fuss on taking off
her wet panties luckily Andrea walk in and she helped me. Andrea had mom feed and I helped to get mom
dressed by the time I left. I was tired
so by the time I got up showered and left I didn’t have a whole lot of time
before I needed to be back. So I just
ran some errands and grocery shopping.
It was a partly sunny warm day with temps getting up to the low
80’s. Andrea said her word of the day
for mom was vocal. Schatcie said mom was
up the whole 2 hours she was here. Mom
was watching TV when I got home at 3:30pm.
I had a person over when I got home to give me a price on killing the
termites and other bugs. I took mom for
a drive shortly after he left. We drove
up to Sioux Passage Park and mom was chatty on our drive and in good
spirits. I fixed dinner when we got back
but gave mom a snack around 7pm so that was the last time mom ate anything. Mom
and I spent the night watching TV and laughing.
Overall with me mom was a bit more alert than her normal. Mom went to bed a little after 10pm and was
fairly easy to get changed.
Monday March 19th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. Mom was up washed, feed and
dressed when I left today. By the time I
left today I just ran some errands and took a short drive over to Columbia
Bottom Conservation Area. Mom was
napping when I got home at 3pm. My
brother Larry stopped by at 3pm for a little while before heading back out to
get ready to drive home. Mom did get up
when Larry was here. Andrea said her
word of the day for mom was sleepy and Shannon agreed. It was another partly sunny warm day with
temps getting to 82 what a day for the last day of winter. Mom and I took a drive to Sioux Passage Park
shortly after Larry left. We talked
about the cars and houses on our drive.
Mom pointed out some of the trees that were flowering as well. Mom talked a little more than her normal
amount on our drive. I fixed dinner
after we got back and mom talked about the flowers Larry brought the other
day. I then gave mom a snack around
7:30pm so that was the last time she ate anything. I feel asleep in my chair for about 30
minutes after dinner then mom and I just spent the rest of the night watching
TV and laughing. Overall mom was in good
spirits but she did fuss when I had her brush her teeth. Then she was fairly easy to get changed into
her nightgown. Mom went to bed at midnight.
Sunday March 18th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or
today. Mom was in bed when I left for
church this morning. I had my friend
Patti over while I went to church. My
brother Larry came over around 10:30am a couple of hours before I got back
home. Larry sprayed clean the front of
the house today while I was at church. I
met up with my friend today and celebrated his birthday a little after the
service. Today mom had taken her pills
and got dressed for Patti without any trouble.
Larry and I talked a little before he left and mom and I went for a
drive. It was a partly sunny day with
temps getting into the 80’s. Mom and I
drove over to Columbia Bottom Conservation Area stopping at the visitor center
for a bathroom break before heading over to Sioux Passage Park then home. Mom was a little more talkative on our drive
than her normal. We talked about the
trees starting to change or at least some are.
We also talked about the views among other things. Larry swung back by the house after our drive
and the 3 of us went out to the Outback steak house for dinner. Our Mexican restaurant was closed on
Sundays. After our dinner Larry left for
the night and mom and I took a second drive over to Sioux Passage Park. We talked about the houses and cars in the
parking lots mostly. This drive mom
talked about her normal amount. Then we
spent the rest of the night watching TV and laughing. I gave mom a drink around 8pm and that was
the last time she had anything. Mom went
to bed around 12:15am. Om did fuss some
tonight on changing but overall mom has been in good spirits today and a little
more talkative than her normal.
Saturday March 17th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom and I got up for the day at 10am. I feed mom breakfast and she took her pills today without much trouble. Since it was suppose too rain all afternoon I left mom in her nightgown. My brother Larry came over at 11am and finished some work around the house and we visited some. Larry left around 4pm. Mom and I just spent the day watching TV and laughing. We did not go for any rides today. We did nap some tonight after dinner for about an hour. During dinner mom talked about the flowers Larry bought her. I did give mom a snack twice tonight once at 7:39pm and 2 crackers at 11pm. Overall today mom has been in good spirits. She really didn’t know who Larry was all the time so she was a little tentative around him at times. Mom went to bed tonight at midnight.
Friday March 16th 2012
Mom did have a bladder accident this morning. Andrea had only gotten the front part of mom washed today. Mom was making her bed when Andrea said mom made a bee line to the bathroom and that’s when mom had the bladder accident. Mom was dressed when I got done with my shower and my brother Larry had just gotten here. Larry and I spent the day going to the hardware stores and fixing some things around the house. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was docile. Larry left around 3:30pm and mom and I then went for a drive. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park talking about the houses along the way. We ate dinner after we got back and mom talked about the flowers Larry bought on the dining table. I gave mom a snack at 7pm and that was the last time she ate. We spent the evening watching TV and laughing. Mom did her thing of wondering around the house at 8pm off and on for an hour. Mom ended up going to bed at 1am.
Thursday March 15th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up feed and partly dressed but had not taken all her pills yet when I left today. I took mom’s car over for an oil change then over to the Missouri career center to re activate my account there of course it meant me sitting there waiting first LOL. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was contrary. To my pleasant surprise my brother Larry was here when I got home at 3:30pm. Larry got in to town late this morning and then left shortly after I got home. Mom was awake when I got home and we went for a drive to Sioux Passage Park. Both mom and I were fairly quiet on the last part of the drive and it did start to rain just before we got back home. I fixed dinner after our drive but did give mom a cookie at 9pm so that was the last time she ate. We spent the night watching TV and we both napped a little. Mom did not do her thing of walking around the house this evening and went to bed at 10:30pm. With me overall mom has been in good spirits and tried to start some conversations but having problems putting her thoughts into words. Mom was also fairly easy to get her to brush and change.
Wednesday March 14th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up washed, and we ate breakfast together before I left for a job seminar. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was meek. Mom was up when I got home at 1:30pm. It was a partly sunny warm day with temps setting a new high at 86. The pastor stopped by today around 2pm for about a 45 minute visit. Mom was in good spirits the time he was here and was fairly receptive to the pastor talking to her. So mom was on good behavior for the pastor LOL. After the pastor left mom and I went for a drive to Sioux Passage Park. We talked about the number of cars in the parking lots and the houses on our drive. Today I parked the car in the park and mom and I took a short walk down to look at the river. We walked about 200 feet total but by the time we got to the car mom’s hip was hurting a little and was fine 2 minutes after she sat down in the car. We took a short pit stop back at the house before heading out for another drive. I saw a couple gas stations raised their price but I knew one that hadn’t yet so I wanted to fill up the car before everybody’s price went up. I then fixed dinner but gave mom a snack around 7pm so that was the last time she ate anything. Mom did take a short nap after dinner so we didn’t take anymore drives. We spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 10pm. Tonight mom fussed some on brushing her teeth but was fairly easy when it came to changing into her nightgown. Tonight mom tried to start some conversations again but was have problems putting her thoughts into words. Overall today mom has been in good spirits and a little more talkative than her normal.
Tuesday March 13th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up feed and dressed when I left today. Andrea said mom was up making her bed when Andrea got here. Although mom ended up napping a lot of the time Andrea was here. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was slumberous. Mom was awake most of the 2 hours Schatcie was here. I met up with a friend for lunch before going to my chiropractor appointment. My neck is almost completely better at least most of the time thank god. The chiropractor said I should start doing things that made my neck hurt like reading or on the computer for a longtime to see if the neck is back to normal. Mom was up when I got home at 3:30pm and we took our first drive of the day. I first had mom go to the bathroom and it was hard to get her to understand which happens daily at times. It was a beautiful sunny day with temps in the low 80’s. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park talking about the cars in the parking lots and the houses. Mom seemed to enjoy the drive and talked about her normal amount. I fixed dinner shortly after we got back and mom talked about the flowers on the dining room table. After dinner and a bathroom break we took a second drive to Sioux Passage Park. It is starting to stay light longer now giving us a chance for a drive after dinner. I gave mom a snack around 7:30pm so that was the last time she ate anything. We spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing. Mom did try again tonight to start some conversations and put thoughts together but was having problems doing that. Mom did do her thing of wondering around the house starting at 9pm until I had her go to bed at 9:45pm. Mom wasn’t too happy tonight at taking the pants off after she put the nightgown on. Overall today mom has been in good spirits even when she was wondering around the house.
Monday March 12th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up washed, feed and dressed when I left today. First I went grocery shopping and to talk to the pharmacist about which of mom’s prescriptions can be crushed and put into apple sauce. I found out all of them can so when we get to that point which may be sooner than later. It was a beautiful sunny day with temps getting up to 80. We turned the furnace off and opened up the house. Before heading back home I went over to the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area for a short hike. It has been so warm that some of the trees are changing and I’m seeing more birds on my hikes. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was befuddled. Shannon said mom was up the whole 2 hours she was here and mom was up when I got home at 3:30pm. Since it was such a nice day I took mom for a drive to Sioux Passage Park then over to Sunset Park. Mom enjoyed getting out and talked about her normal amount on the drive. I fixed dinner when we got back but the gave mom a snack and drink at 8:30pm so that was the last time she ate. Mom talked a little about the flowers on the dining room table during dinner. We spent the evening watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 11:30pm. Mom tried to start several conversations but was having a hard time pronouncing her words and thoughts. Mom was in good spirits with me today and more talkative than her normal. Om was fairly easy tonight getting her to brush and change quit different than yesterday.
Sunday March 11th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. I had my friend Patti over while I went to church and bible study. Patti said mom didn’t get up until 11am for breakfast but would take her pills. Mom was up when I got home at 1pm and we gave her lunch. Then I made mom take her pills after her lunch and it was like pulling teeth to get her to take them. Since it was going to be raining pretty much all afternoon I had Patti leave mom in her nightgown. So mom was in her nightgown all day. We spent the afternoon napping and watching TV. We ate a late dinner finishing around 6:45pm so that was the last time mom had anything to eat. Mom was very unsettled tonight she got up several times walking around the house this evening. We spent the rest of the evening watching TV until mom went to bed at 10pm. Mom was also very difficult tonight when I had mom brush her teeth. So today mom was unsettled and difficult when made to do something.
Saturday March 10th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. I got mom up for the day at 9am when we ate breakfast. Today was a handful getting mom to take her pills and get dressed. I took her for a haircut and that went fairly easy at least. It was a sunny day with temps in the 60’s. I took mom for a drive to Sioux Passage Park then around town. We talked about the cars in parking lots and mom talked about her normal amount. Mom napped a little after our drive before I took her out for an early dinner. We went over to our favorite Mexican restaurant. Mom talked about the cars driving on the road outside during dinner. Mom did nap a little after dinner. We watched TV and laughed the rest of the evening. Mom did her thing of wondering around the house at 8:30pm for about 20 minutes. Mom went to bed at 12:30am and was fairly easy to get her changed into her nightgown.
Friday March 9th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up washed, feed and dressed when I left today. I spent the time from home reading the bible and running errands. Andrea said that mom was nice today and her word of the day for mom was amiable. Shannon agreed mom was the same the time she was here. Mom was up watching TV when I got home at 3:30pm. It was a sunny and fairly warm day today. I took mom for a drive shortly after I got home. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park. We both were fairly quiet on the drive but mom was happy. I fixed dinner when we got back but gave mom a snack around 8pm and that was the last time she ate anything. We spent the night watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 10pm. Mom fussed a little when taking off the pants after she put the nightgown on but not too bad.
Thursday March 8th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up washed, feed and dressed when I left today. I met up with a friend today for lunch then ran some errands. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was combative. She had a hard time with getting mom to take her pills. Patti said mom was fine and up the whole time she was here. Mom was up watching TV when I got home at 3:30pm. It was cloudy and much cooler today. I took mom for a drive to Sioux Passage Park before dinner. Mom was talkative for her on our drive today and in good spirits. When we got back I fixed dinner but also gave mom a snack at 7:30pm so that was the last time she ate anything. We spent the evening watching TV and laughing. Mom did her thing of walking around the house for about 45 minutes starting around 9pm. Om went to bed tonight at 1am and was fairly easy getting her to change into her nightgown.
Wednesday March 7th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up washed, feed and dressed when I left today. I didn’t have much time and just ran some errands today while I was gone. It was a cloudy day but temps where at 70. Andrea said mom was much better today and her word of the day for mom was self-motivated. Mom was napping in her chair when I got home at 1:30pm. I took mom for a drive this afternoon before dinner. It was cloudy but warm with the temp around 70. So we drove over to Columbia Bottom Conservation Area stopping at the visitor center there for a bathroom break. Then we headed over to Sioux Passage Park before heading home. Mom was talking more on the first part of the drive. I fixed dinner when we got back but did give mom a snack at 7:30pm and she went to bed at 11pm. So I will wake mom up around 4am to go to the bathroom. Mom can now wait 5 or so hours before having a bladder accident since she started taking Toviaz. We watched TV and laughed this evening. Mom was a little sharper mentally with me today although she was a little confused on the changing.
Tuesday March 6th 2012
Mom did have a bladder accident overnight. I over slept and didn’t get mom up for 6.5 hours. Mom was up feed and dressed when I left today. I went for a chiropractor appointment then I went for a short hike. It was a partly sunny day with temps getting into the 70’s. This was my first day of the year I wore my sandals. I hiked along the Missouri river in Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. It was just a nice spring day today. Andrea said mom was a challenge when she made mom do things like her pills. It took mom along time today to take her pills. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was sleepy. Schatcie said mom was awake most of the time she was here and said mom was quiet. Mom was up when I got home at 3:30pm. After I checked my email and a bathroom break for mom we went on a drive. I forgot to mention yesterday afternoon the guys came by and replaced the siding on the carport fascia board. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park talking about the cars in the parking lots. Mom did talk about her normal amount on our drive. I fixed dinner when we got back and then gave mom a drink at 8pm. Mom did nap some after dinner then we spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing. Mom did her thing of walking around the house at 9pm. Mom went to bed at midnight and was more fussy than she has been in a long time and was very confused.
Monday March 5th 2012
Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up washed, feed and dressed when I left today. It was a sunny day with temps at 50. I went over to the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area for a short hike. I hiked along the Missouri river. Andrea said mom was challenging and said her word of the day for mom was head strong. Shannon said mom was nice the 2 hours she was here. Mom was up watching TV when I got home at 3:30pm. I took mom for a drive shortly after I got home and checked my email. We took our normal drive to Sioux Passage Park and mom even pointed to the one road I was going to take. So for a moment she remembered we turn onto that street first time she has done that in a long time. So she was a bit more alert than normal. I fixed dinner when we got back and mom talked about the flowers on the table. I fixed some popcorn at 7:39pm so that was the last time she had anything to eat or drink. We napped a little after dinner then watched TV and laughed the rest of the evening. Mom did her thing of walking around the house a couple times tonight the first time was at 8pm the second time was at 9:30pm both times were for a few minutes. Mom for the most part was pleasant but she did fuss when I had mom brush her teeth. Mom was very confused on changing and getting into bed at 12:30am.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. I had my friend Patti over while I went to church. Mom was asleep when I left for church and bible study afterwards. It was mostly a cloudy rainy day. I met up with my friends and went to bible study this was my 5 class of 6. So next weekend will be the last bible study class and will finish this course. It has been a good course and has given me some insight on how to meditate on the word of god. Patti said mom was a little grumpy this morning but did get mom dressed but mom hadn’t taken her pills until I got back. Mom changed her mood after I got her pills down she did fuss some with me on taking her pills. But mom did give Patti a kiss as she was leaving so her mood had changed by then. I took mom for a drive shortly after I got home. Since it was drizzly we only drove over to Sioux Passage Park so I could get mom back home before she would need to go to the bathroom. We talked about the cars in the parking lots and houses as we always do. Mom ended up talking about her normal amount up our drive. Mom napped some after our drive for about an hour in her chair. We took a second drive to Sioux Passage Park after her nap and before dinner. Mom talked a little less on this drive. During dinner we talked a little and I gave mom a snack around 8:30pm so that was the last time she ate anything. We both took a nap in our chairs after dinner as we were watching TV. We then spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 12:30am. After I got moms pills down she was quiet pleasant the rest of the day.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. I got mom up for the day at 11am for brunch. I had no problem today getting mom to take her pills or in getting dressed. After some bathroom breaks we went for our Saturday drive. It was a partly sunny day with temps in the 40’s. I drove mom along the river road to Grafton IL. We didn’t see any bald eagles or boats on the river. We did see 2 barges. We also did not see anybody riding their bikes on the bike trail. Mom and I talked about the houses on top of the cliffs. I also had no problem with getting mom to go to the bathroom at the visitor center. Mom was quieter than her normal but was very pleasant and in good spirits all day. I fixed lunch when we got back then mom took a nap in her chair. I took mom for a second drive before dinner. This time we drove over to Sioux Passage Park. Mom did talk a little more on this drive mostly about how many cars are in the parking lots. During dinner we talked about the flowers on the table then I gave mom a snack at 7:30pm so that was the last time she ate anything. We spent the evening watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 11:30pm. Mom was ok on changing into her nightgown.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up washed, feed and dressed when I left today. I left later today because the guys came by this morning to put the new gutters on. It was rainy this morning until about 10am then mostly just cloudy. I had a chiropractor appointment early this afternoon then just spent some time to, myself. I got back home at 3:30pm. Both Andrea and Shannon said the word of the day for mom was affectionate. I took mom for a drive shortly after I got home. It was still cloudy and cooler we had a cold front come through this afternoon. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park but not doing much talking. I fixed dinner when we got back then gave mom a snack around 7:30pm. We both napped some after dinner as we were watching TV. Then we just spent the rest of the night watching TV and laughing until mom went to bed at 12:30am. Mom was fairly easy to get her changed into her nightgown. Like I’ve said before it seems to be working better if I give mom a hug get her to laugh after she puts on the nightgown then I just pull the pants down myself. It has been working much better than me telling mom over and over to do it herself she fusses much more that way.

Mom did not have any bladder or bowel accidents overnight or today. Mom was up feed and dressed when I left today. It was a beautiful day with temps getting up to 66 more like spring than winter. I was able to get in a short walk before running some errands. I walked at the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area along the Missouri river. Andrea said her word of the day for mom was amiable and Patti agreed. Mom did nap on and off in her chair when Patti was here. Mom was up watching TV when I got home at 3:30pm. It was so nice out I took mom for a drive and she didn’t even need a jacket since we would be in the car mostly. We drove over to Sioux Passage Park talking about the houses and cars in the parking lots mostly. I fixed dinner after we got back but gave mom a snack at 7pm so that was the last time she had anything to eat or drink. We did talk to my brother Larry on SKYPE for a few minutes tonight. We spent the rest of the evening watching TV and laughing. Mom did her thing of walking around the house for a few minutes at 9pm. A couple of times mom got up to go to the bathroom then forget she got up to go there. She can get side track very easy. Mom went to bed at midnight. Tonight mom took her pants off first when she changed into her nightgown then she started to take her shirt off got it halfway off and wanted to start putting it back on.
